Google AdSense begins rich media beta test

Google AdSense is moving beyond the traditional text and graphical
advertising to rich media, including interstitials, expanding ads and
floating ads. AdSense began contacting publishers last week to be
involved in the rich media limited beta test.

The campaigns will likely be site targeted, rather than contextual,
but details on the actual implementation of these new ads are still
under wraps. With these kind of top-secret beta tests, NDAs are often
requirements before being accepted into it.

YAHOO! Buying Digg?

There are some big names in the Web 2.0 and blogging world saying that
Yahoo is close to buying Digg for somewheres around $35 Million (or
atleast has the ‘offer on the table’). Kevin Burton writes on Feed Blog:

I haven’t yet heard from anyone working for Yahoo
that this is 100% (they obviously had ‘no comment’) but I’d be
surprised if we didn’t hear an announcement by early next week.
Since Digg launched, the service resonated with users who wanted a way to find hot and alternative news.

Are you kidding?! YAHOO is going to be #1

There’s been a lot of conjecture and confusion today about Yahoo!’s commitment to being the world’s best search engine-talk which anyone who’s been following the evolution of Yahoo! Search would have realized is… just plain wrong.

While some people immediately realized this, we thought it made sense to briefly recap how focused we are in search and our passion to be the world’s leading search engine.

Yahoo Publisher Network Expanding This Spring

Yahoo is preparing its answer to Google AdSense, the Yahoo Publisher Network, and has been going about the launch of their contextual advertising offering in a slow and careful fashion. Instead of letting mass publishers apply for and automatically receive Yahoo Publisher Network accounts, Yahoo is inviting samples of United States based publishers which fit into certain advertising categories.

Such ’smart growth’ tactics by Yahoo are leading to the monitoring of ROI and controlled reach of Yahoo Search Marketing advertiser ads, as Yahoo is taking the quality approach as opposed to quantity.

Evolution Not Completely True?

Yesterday I claimed in this blog “I will prove to you beyond all doubt that the theory of evolution is not completely true.”

About a third of you are reading this and thinking “Oh crap, not
this boring topic again!” Another third are thinking “What stupid
argument is this nut bag going to drag out now? We’ve seen it all.” And
the remaining third are thinking “Let’s see how much trouble he can
stir up with people who don’t realize he’s yanking their chains.”

I will put my argument in simple bullet points so that you may more easily follow.

1. Evolution is defined as the change in species over time. (Roughly speaking)

2. Einstein proved that time does not pass for an observer who is
moving at the speed of light. It’s not just the observer’s perception;
it’s his objective reality.

you know where this will end

Yahoo! gives up quest for search dominance

Yahoo! Inc., one of the first Internet search companies, has capitulated to Google Inc. in the battle for market dominance.

“We don’t think it’s reasonable to assume we’re going to gain a lot
of share from Google,” Chief Financial Officer Susan Decker said in an
interview. “It’s not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would
be very happy to maintain our market share.”
